This has just been officially announced by the group:

Tangerine Dream - Shepherds Bush Empire, Sunday June 24th, 2012. Tickets go on sale on Feb 29th at 9.00am. BUT - If you are on the O2 network you can priority book your seats - RIGHT NOW - but be warned as the booking fee is sky high. NB the Shepherds Bush Empire concert will be Tangerine Dream's one and only 2012 UK appearance.

Having discussed this we are allocating 100 units for overseas fans (outside the UK) where it may be more difficult to obtain copies.

If people would like to preorder and reserve then they have until the 24th February to do so and it will be first come first served. Anyone successful will be emailed and if unsuccesful will be emailed and refunded back immediately. There will be a maximum of 2 copies for any order. Cost will be £6.50 including postage to Europe and £9.00 elsewhere.

Esoteric Recordings will be releasing another three Tangerine Dream related items over the next few months, including an exclusive vinyl release for Record Store Day 2012.

LE PARC on April 30th, the CD will come with the bonus track Streethawk (the 12" remix).
April 30th also sees the release of ELECTRONIC MEDITATION - LP in Gatefold Sleeve, this will also feature an exclusive inner bag with new essay. NB: The Vinyl version will feature the same sleeve notes that I wrote for the standard CD version.

The new year started well and Tangerine Dream are already preparing for their Europe, Canada and USA tour - so far the band will perform 15 concerts! "The Electric Mandarine Tour 2012" will start in Budapest on 10th April. We are also planning a UK concert and a concert in the Western part of USA, but so far we have nothing concrete for you, unfortunately.

Unfortunately this release (Blu-Ray/DVD and CD) will take longer than planned as contractual things take ages (three parties are involved). You can believe us that we really do everything to release this special concert as soon as possible!

Conrad Schnitzler sadly died on August 4th. RIP Conrad. As KDM pointed out to me this evening, it was also Klaus Schulze's birthday.

According to an email I just received, the Zeit boxset has just been dispatched :) but....the boxset hasn't arrived or been by checked by ER's artist...confusion reins :(

ZEIT boxset update

Cherry Red Records have received the first ZEIT boxsets. A copy will be checked by Esoteric's artist (probably tomorrow). If this is ok - with no major printing problems or errors - then the sets will be shipped pretty soon afterwards.

ZEIT boxset/ ER update

There will be a slight delay with the release of the ZEIT boxset, as the printing needs to be checked by ER's artist (probably w/e 31.7.11). If it's ok and no errors are found then expect the set soon after that. Pre-sales have been very good indeed, with over 600+ copies being sold already.

Talking of which the first run of the Zeit 2 CD set has completely sold out. NB: The second reprint doesn't come in a slip case; apparently this is standard practice at Esoteric/ Cherry Red Records.

As I mentioned last time Esoteric will also release limited editions of Alpha Centauri and Atem, and they hope to also include a large format book (anything up to 10 inches square*) with the LPs, but nothing has been finalised quite yet.

Work continues on the standard CD releases of Atem (EREACD 21019) and Underwater Sunlight (EREACD 1020) - both contain sleeve notes by Malcolm Dome. The artwork for both should be finished today (26.7.11). As several people pointed out the error in using the Dolphin Dance 12", ER have chosen to use just Dolphin Smile on the CD.

Ok, it seems that Esoteric Recordings have changed their minds. ALPHA CENTAURI won't in fact be released as a boxset, but instead will be released as a Vinyl version c/w a reproduction of the ULTIMA THULE single. Shame that :(

ALPHA CENTAURI will also be released as a standard CD, hopefully with a 16-20 booklet.

Issue # 10 was mailed out earlier today. It features several short pieces by JOHN PEEL on Tangerine Dream (from magazine articles, a very short radio transcript and a letter John wrote to the group in late 1973 or early 1974 from my own TD collection).

The booklet design has now changed, it still has 48 pages of memorabilia and press material (some reproduced for the very first time) - with a few captions, but it doesn't have my essay, you'll find this in the CD. Having listened to the new album more than 5 or 6 times now, I'm pleased to say that's it's superb, perhaps not as obvious on first inspection as The Island of the Fey, but a real grower, an album with emotion, new sounds and some very fine music. Well done to everyone concerned, especially Bianca for the sleeve design.

The full set comprises 2 x LP + sleeve (BLUE VINYL), 2 x CD, the second CD contains a recording of TD live in 1972 (Klangwald -'Sound Forest', Cologne - which has been remastered by Edgar in Vienna), 7" x 7" full colour book (with many scare photos, new essay including some memorabilia that's never been seen before), Scarce OHR records insert (12"), 3 x postcards (two replicate the promo postcards that OHR/ Metronome produced. All in a large boxset reproducing the look and feel of the original issue of Zeit. I must apologise (especially to Phil at CDS) for misleading people about ER's plans (many thanks to Vicky Powell for the correction). Esoteric won't in fact be releasing ALL of the albums as boxsets, just 3 or 4 of the OHR label albums (ELECTRONIC MEDITATION, ALPHA CENTAURI, ZEIT and ATEM). My misunderstanding entirely and apologises to all concerned. (NOTE TO SELF): make notes in future!

Zeit: a request

I need a top quality scan of the the front cover of Zeit (mine, although in fantastic condition has a Gold 'German' price sticker on the front cover). Can anyone help? it needs to be the original OHR label LP (sadly no other version will do and that includes all CD re-issues, as well as the Virgin and Italian LP versions). Ideally with no damage, uncropped with no parts of the cover missing. It also needs to be 300dpi + with no proccessing, colour correction or sharpening. Many thanks.

Just the raw information, and not expanded into the full article I had originally hoped for, sorry about that but I'm busy with several TD projects at the moment and they all need my attention. So rather than just delaying the newsletter I'll send out a slightly shorter version, but with all the usual news intact.
