EMI/ Virgin re-issue Stratosfear

The new EMI/Virgin Records re-issue of Stratosfear - in a gatefold sleeve and on heavyweight vinyl. Cat No. VR2068/ 5099962426916.

Pros: 1. It's just nice to see this classic album available once again on Vinyl and in a gatefold sleeve. 2. EMI have used some heavy weight Vinyl this time (180gram?). 3: Nice to see the full-colour Roger Dean label - although to my eyes they've boosted the colour slightly. 4. The LP comes in a good quality (Black) inner bag. 4. The credits on the labels are correct - comparing them to the original copies.

Cons: 1. Outer sleeve: here the colour reproduction is slightly off but nothing too bad, the cover image has also been brightened, which means some of the mid tones have been blown out with some loss of detail. 2. The inner gatefold sleeve suffers far more with colour reproduction problems (too red to my eyes - the original was more yellow) and poor old Jerome has been cropped in half.

Not checked: 1. The sound quality but the LP is based on the 1995 Virgin Records remaster.
